Geely Prepares to Launch Emgrand i-HEV with the World's Most Efficient Hybrid Engine

Saudi Arabia:  Geely will officially unveil its Emgrand i-HEV hybrid sedan for the Chinese market on June 16, 2026. The company claims the vehicle has secured a Guinness World Record for fuel efficiency. It reportedly outperforms the established Toyota Prius by over 12 percent in economy tests.

The Efficiency Claim

The central claim for the Emgrand i-HEV is its record-breaking fuel economy. Geely has stated the sedan earned a Guinness World Record as the most fuel-efficient production hybrid vehicle globally. This is a direct challenge to long-standing segment leaders. Gleey has been pretty competitive in the Saudi region too, with Geely EX5 rivaling the Omoda E5 and other strong model lineups. 

Official consumption figures are listed at 26.1 km/litre. A real-world test conducted on Hainan Island yielded an even more impressive 45 km/litre. These numbers are underpinned by a petrol engine with a claimed world-record thermal efficiency of 48.41%. For petrol-conscious buyers in the UAE, such figures would translate to extremely low running costs if the model were to arrive here.

The Geely Emgrand i-HEV combines a petrol engine with two electric motors, away from the traditional Geely Emgrand. This combination delivers strong performance with an impressive fuel efficiency. Built on Geely's BMA Evo platform, the hybrid system is engineered to provide smooth acceleration, quick power delivery, and refined everyday driving.

Launch Timeline and Market

Geely has scheduled the official unveiling of the Emgrand i-HEV for June 16, 2026. This launch is specifically for the Chinese domestic market. The exact date of export to the GCC region or KSA is yet to be announced.
