Jetour T2

• The 2.0-litre turbocharged, 4-cylinder petrol engine produces 251 hp of power and solid 390 Nm of torque. You get a confident acceleration and an effortless highway drive across all terrains.
• A standard all-wheel-drive system with selectable driving modes helps take on different conditions. Sand, Mud, and Snow modes allow easy navigation through challenging terrain. The SUV represents the affordable, genuine off-road capability.
• The chassis is built from over 80% high-strength steel, thus making the structure robust and durable for both highway and rough road conditions. The 220 mm of high ground clearance makes driving over obstacles and uneven tracks a huge positive.
• Considering the off-road capability of the T2, you get a well-tuned suspension, which is perfectly suitable for KSA roads, taking on bumps on smooth highways while maintaining control on rougher surfaces. The ride gives an impression of being planted without being rough, and so long desert drives or family road trips are enjoyable.

Likewise, the steering is responsive and precise. For an SUV with muscular proportions, the driving dynamics feel more controlled than expected. The electronic stability systems work quietly well in the background and never really bother.

Some compromises

• Since you get a turbocharged engine, the focus shifts towards efficiency, so you would not get a raw muscle car feel. Similarly, the acceleration is confident but measured, not really that thrilling.
• Wind noise becomes noticeable at highway speeds above 120 km/h, though cabin insulation is decent overall.
• The 7-speed automatic transmission is smooth but doesn’t feel particularly sporty. It is built for practicality and efficiency, not easy to downshift.
• It is an excellent off-road SUV, and it is positioned between daily-driver SUVs and hardcore 4x4s.

• A 12-channel Sony sound system gives exceptional immersive audio quality. For a delightful time inside the cabin, especially on long drives.
• The infotainment system runs on a Snapdragon 8155 smart chip, and smartphone integration is seamless and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
• A highly useful feature is the 360-degree camera system. The panoramic helps during navigation in tight spaces or off-road terrain.
• Comfort and convenience include a ventilated front seat, something highly useful in KSA's heat. The leather upholstery feels premium, and the multi-zone climate control keeps the cabin cool for passengers.
• Jetours offers a standard panoramic sunroof and ambient lighting, which makes the cabin truly high-end.
• Given this is also a family SUV, the cabin has several well-thought-out storage options. Like cup holders that are properly designed, door pockets that are quite big and also the centre console has practical compartments. The interior is such that you get the best possible comfort for everyday use.
• For carrying luggage or cargo, you get 550 litres of boot space. The rear seats are foldable for accommodating larger items with a simple and effective layout.
• Seven exterior colour options, including Silver Snow, Night Black, and Sun Orange. The design language is bold without being aggressive. It fits equally in corporate parking lots and desert terrain.

Overall, the T2 comes across as a well-designed and executed package that combines comfort and modern tech integration at a price that would not make you think twice. It is practical luxury, not pretentious.

• On nice highways and city roads, the suspension absorbs uneven surfaces well. The cabin insulation is just fine and helps wind and road noise at manageable levels.
• At highway speeds, the T2 tracks straight with minimal steering correction needed. This builds confidence on long intercity drives, particularly useful for those heading toward Abha or heading out to the Empty Quarter.
• Body roll in corners is well-controlled thanks to the electronic stability systems.
• Adaptive cruise control makes highway driving less tiring. You set your speed and distance, and the system maintains both automatically.
• In the city, the T2 is easy to handle without worrying about its size. For better driving, the high seating position helps with better visibility and confidence. The turning radius is manageable, and parking in tight spots requires some care but is not too difficult to deal with.

Some compromises 

• It is noticeable that on some bigger speed bumps, the ride is fine, but you feel more impact than you would in luxury sedans. Overall, it is okay but not super comfy at times.
• The T2's weight means acceleration from standstill is not lightning quick. You would not outpace sports cars off the line, but power builds smoothly and reliably.
• The vehicle feels slightly pushed around by strong crosswinds on exposed highway stretches, though this is rarely dangerous, just noticeable.

What we know

• The standard safety starts with 6 airbags: 2 frontal, 2 side, and 2 curtain bags. Then come the active safety features like ABS with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution prevents wheel lock-up during hard braking. Also, there is an Electronic Stability Control and Traction Control that saves the vehicles from line on slippery surfaces.

• There is Hill Assist to help avoid rollback on inclines. Hill Descent Control to control speed on downhill stretches.

• Another equally vital feature is Adaptive Cruise Control with automatic emergency braking that monitors traffic ahead. Forward Collision Warning for advanced warning of dangers.

• Blind Spot Monitoring, Lane Keep Assist, and ISOFIX child seat anchors ensure safe installation of child seats.

• Most of the Chinese automakers these days, but not the conventional brands, use the 540-degree Panoramic Parking system.

• Active Understeer Control and Active Bonnet are helpful during any collision situation.

What is less clear 

GCC compliance: The T2 meets local regulatory safety standards and includes features required for GCC spec vehicles.

Safety Rating: The Jetour T2 has not been independently crash tested by Euro NCAP or other internationally recognised programs yet. Verified crash test scores are unavailable. Jetour's parent company, Chery, has solid engineering credentials, but independent verification for this specific model remains pending.

Service network: this is one area you need to trade carefully. Like most of the Chinese brands, Jetour is new to our market, and so their network of service is just growing and has not yet reached to every nook and corner of every city and town. This could affect warranty claim processing and parts availability compared to established brands.
