Does the Hyundai Palisade Hold Its Value in Saudi Arabia?

Saudi Arabia: This is the question that is slightly tricky, but most buyers simply forget until it is too late. The Palisade is such an attractive SUV that most buyers just love it at first sight in the showroom, as there is a lot of work, the specs are good, the interior looks premium, and the monthly aqsat plan is manageable. But once you have driven it for two or three years and start thinking about trading it in, the picture becomes less comfortable. Unlike Japanese brands, the Korean brands in Saudi Arabia still don't hold resale value, and that matters when you're doing the real numbers.

Depreciation Is Real 

A Palisade bought new at SAR 210,000 today will likely be worth somewhere around SAR 130,000–150,000 after three years, assuming average mileage and decent condition. That's a depreciation of roughly SAR 60,000–80,000 in three years.

Compare that to a Toyota Fortuner bought at SAR 165,000. A three-year-old Fortuner in excellent condition often sells for SAR 120,000–135,000 in the Saudi used car market. The Fortuner loses less in absolute terms and often a smaller percentage of its value too.

If you buy the Mid AWD at SAR 210,000 through a Murabaha arrangement with 20% down and 60-month installments:

• Total paid over 5 years: ~SAR 234,000 (including down payment)
• Estimated resale after 5 years: ~SAR 100,000–115,000
• Net cost of ownership: ~SAR 120,000–135,000

That is the actual cost. For a premium family SUV that you've used comfortably for five years across the Kingdom, those numbers are defensible.

Who This Car Makes Sense For

• Buyers who plan to own 5+ years: Depreciation is less relevant; you're getting real value from the features
• Families prioritising comfort and tech: It's Hard to match this level of kit at this price in most rivals
• Buyers using Islamic finance: 'Murabaha' means fixed monthly costs with no interest surprises

Who should think twice:

• Buyers who trade cars every 2–3 years
• Buyers in cities with limited Hyundai service access
• Buyers expecting Fortuner-level resale

What It Means

The Palisade is a strong SUV from a well-established brand, but ownership economics in Saudi Arabia still favor Japanese brands when resale is the main factor. However, if you are a long-term keeper who values features, warranty, and driving comfort, it makes sense. If you are treating the car as an investment or planning a quick trade-in, the numbers don't work in your favor. Understand that before making the decision, the Palisade becomes a much better decision.
