Genesis GV70

• There are two powertrains: the 2.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine produces 300 hp and 422 Nm of torque, and the 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 generates 375 hp and 530 Nm of torque. Both pair with an 8-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive comes standard across the lineup.
• The 8-speed automatic is quite smooth and effortless, responds well to inputs, and is a great strength of the SUV.
• The rear-wheel steering enhances the overall driving experience and reduces the turning radius. That means you can park easily; despite the 4,715 mm length, the GV70 feels nimble and manageable.
• Another key highlight of the mechanical aspect of the car is the superb and strong balance of the suspension between comfort and control. You instantly know; the firmness also handles corners confidently without feeling harsh over bumps. Furthermore, the Highway Body Motion Control boosts your ride smoothness during acceleration and braking by managing damping forces intelligently.

Some limitations:

• But you feel the steering is slightly heavier than before without adding much road feel. You receive precision and confidence but not much feedback; this is because Genesis emphasizes more on removing kickback over engagement.
• This SUV is not available in hybrid or diesel options, which is a significant drawback when compared to its competitors.

• Highway Driving Assist is the Korean brand's semi-autonomous technology. This feature is one of the key aspects of this SUV. It combines adaptive cruise control with lane centering to maintain safety. The system takes help from sensors, which let you simply rest your hands on the wheel rather than constantly wiggling it. It is quite good and relaxing, but not fully dependent, so you need to be in charge.
• Even though it has a big SUV size, you won’t feel it when driving in any city; you can manage it well. If anything, the 360-degree surround-view monitor helps during parking; likewise, the Remote Smart Parking Assist can park the vehicle remotely using your key fob for tight spaces.
• The light and easy steering, which is also quite precise, enhances your drive. At highway speeds, the new tuning effectively eliminates unwanted kickback, albeit at the cost of some road feel.
• On highways, the suspension remarkably absorbs bumps and rough patches smoothly.  The cabin is silent thanks to active noise cancellation and acoustic laminated glass.
• Terrain Mode has snow, mud, and sand settings for light off-road situations. But don't keep hope for serious trail capability; the system helps on unpaved roads or in adverse weather conditions.

Some compromises:

• You may experience the brake pedal as a little wooden. Although the GV70 doesn't excel in providing a sporty SUV experience, it performs adequately but lacks a sharp feel.
• Body roll exists if you go through aggressive cornering. The GV70 is not exactly as sharp as a BMW X3 on twisty roads; rather, it focuses on comfort over ultimate handling.
• Ground clearance is suitable for paved roads and light trails only, and this vehicle is not your typical serious off-road SUV. The GV70 is primarily for city and highway driving.

• The major highlight has to be the 27-inch OLED integrated display stretching across the entire dashboard. It combines the instrument cluster and infotainment into one seamless curved screen. The interface responds quickly with crisp graphics and intuitive menus. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard.

• The soft and absolutely comfortable nappa leather seats are standard with heating and ventilation up front. The front seats have 12-way power adjustment with memory features, and at the rear seats, you get heating and power recline, but only on top trims, which is nothing but creating a first-class experience.
• Entertainment is something not compromised; with the Bang & Olufsen premium audio system with 16 speakers, you get exceptional sound quality. The aluminum speaker covers add visual interest, while the audio performance rivals home theater systems.
• Digital Key 2 is another highlight that reshapes your smartphone or smartwatch into the vehicle key. So, just walk up with your phone, and the flush door handles pop out automatically.
• The wireless charging pad keeps your phone topped up without cables. Four USB ports throughout the cabin ensure everyone stays connected. Practical storage solutions include a decent center console and door pockets.
• Adjustable interior ambient lighting comes standard. Choose from multiple colors to set the mood. The system integrates with the overall cabin atmosphere nicely without being gimmicky.
• The steering wheel has a fresh design with contrast stitching and the Genesis logo, and the controls are easy to use while driving.
• The boot offers 542 liters of space behind the second row, enough for golf bags and weekend luggage. Fold the rear seats, and the cargo space increases to 1,678 liters for bigger items.
• Exterior design follows Genesis's Athletic Elegance philosophy. The signature Crest Grille dominates the front with a dual-weave pattern. Two-line LED headlamps with micro lens array technology create an unmistakable identity. The coupe-like roofline and muscular stance give the GV70 a dynamic, sporty presence. Available wheel sizes range from 19 to 21 inches depending on trim level.

Some compromises:

• Rear-seat legroom is adequate but not class-leading. Taller passengers might find the rear quarters tighter than expected for the segment. The BMW X3 and Audi Q5 offer slightly more space.
• The massive screen eliminates some physical buttons. While the interface works well, some buyers prefer traditional controls for climate and audio functions during driving.

What we know:

• The first and foremost is the strong safety rating from major testing organizations. This is attributed largely to its high-tensile steel safety cage with energy-absorbing crumple zones that make it exceptional collision protection.
• There are about 9 standard airbags covering driver, passenger, side, curtain, and knee positions. The structure is optimized to manage impact forces effectively.
• Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist is one feature that sees vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists. It accurately intervenes in the event of collisions at intersections and during lane changes, warning the driver and applying the brakes in an emergency if necessary.
• Another equally key feature is the Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist. Here, you get warnings through visuals and audio when the car is in a blind spot. The Blind-Spot View Monitor showcases live video in the instrument cluster during lane changes.
