TOYOTA GAZOO Racing World Rally Team Wins at Rally Saudi Arabia

TOYOTA GAZOO Racing World Rally Team (TGR-WRT) has witnessed an amazing day with the win in the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC). Both Sébastien Ogier and Vincent Landais were driving for Toyota in KSA on the final day. They clinched the championship by defeating their Toyota Gazoo Racing WRT team-mates, Elfyn Evans and Scott Martin, by four points. With this win, Ogier became the nine-time World Rally Champion. In the winning session the Ogier was faster by 7.9 seconds and secured third position. After winning the rally, Ogier said I'm obviously super happy, but this championship has never been an obsession for me. Winning it again… I can't quite put it into words yet. I need some time. The  TGR-WRT continues its dominant spree with six wins in seven years. 

Challenging Rally Terrain

The Rally Saudi Arabia is very challenging due to loose desert sand with rocky mountains. The high temperatures on top of everything test the driver and the vehicle both to their limits. Both drivers, Ogier and Landa, maintained a consistent and calculated pace with minimal time loss. This helped them to get the third spot and the points needed to win the championship. This is the result of the six victories and 10 podiums from 11 starts.

Chairman’s Remarks

Commenting on the event, the  TGR-WRT Chairman, Akio Toyoda, congratulated Ogier for his ninth championship and Vincent on his first title. Further, he thanked the whole team for their hard work.
