Ford Explorer

• The 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine produces 300 hp and 420 Nm of torque paired with a 10-speed automatic. For most buyers, this engine covers everything. Merging onto the Jeddah to Makkah expressway or cruising between cities at 120 kph, it responds cleanly and with real confidence. The 10-speed gearbox shifts quietly, and you stop noticing it in daily use.
• The 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 brings 400 hp and 563 Nm of torque. The pull from low speeds is immediate and strong. If you regularly tow a boat to Yanbu or a caravan toward Tabuk, the V6 is the engine to choose.
• Towing capacity on the V6 reaches 2,500 kg versus 2,000 kg on the four-cylinder.

Some Realities

• Fuel consumption on the 2.3-liter is claimed at around 11.8 km per liter. In real Saudi conditions with the air conditioning running hard, you can expect 10 to 11 km per liter. The V6 drops further. At current KSA petrol prices this is manageable, but buyers doing heavy city driving should calculate the monthly fuel cost before structuring their Murabaha or Aqsat.
• The Explorer is a large car, just over 5 meters long and nearly 1.9 meters tall; tight petrol station lanes in older parts of Jeddah and narrow parking structures in Riyadh malls will remind you of its size. Keep that in mind, test drive it, and check your comfort before you get one. 

• On Saudi highways with high speeds of 120 and 140 kph, the Explorer is composed, quiet, and refined. This can be considered a big strength of this American SUV. 
• With such high speed, it can manage wind noise well, and the suspension handles the long undulations of the Riyadh to Dammam road or the coastal expressway north of Jeddah smoothly. 
• The high seating position gives a clear view of traffic, which is genuinely useful in busy Riyadh highway driving. 
• The 360-degree camera on Platinum and ST trims makes urban parking in tight Jeddah streets far less stressful than the car's size suggests.

Things That Matter More

• The suspension is tuned for long-distance comfort, not for sharpness in bends. If you are used to compact crossovers, you will feel the difference on a roundabout or a fast slip road. However, it never feels unsafe, but it does feel like the tall family SUV it is.
• On rough roads or big speed bumps, the cabin may feel a bit of impact. The rear passengers feel it more than those at the front. On well-maintained city roads in Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam, this is hardly a problem. On secondary roads outside the major cities, it is worth testing before you buy.
• The Active trim only gets a rearview camera. In narrow car parks or reversing in older parts of any Saudi city, that is a meaningful gap compared to the full 360-degree system on higher trims.

• The 13.2-inch landscape touchscreen running SYNC 4 is quick, clear, and readable in direct Saudi sunlight. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connect without cables and work reliably. 
• The 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster alongside it offers clean, customizable displays. The dashboard on Platinum and ST trims uses soft-touch materials on the surfaces you actually touch most.
• One thing families would love is how spacious and comfortable the second row is for adults on long drives. The third row fits children and shorter adults for moderate trips. 
• Cargo behind the third row is 461 liters. Fold everything flat, and you reach 2,415 liters. This also means enough packed luggage for an Eid trip to Abha, a Friday shopping run, sports bags, and school bags; the Explorer carries all of it without issue.
• Higher trims add leather multicontour massaging front seats, and your entertainment and music experience is defined by an excellent Bang & Olufsen 14-speaker audio system. 
• For anyone spending long commutes on King Abdulaziz Road in Jeddah or sitting in traffic on the Riyadh ring road twice a day, those massaging seats move from a nice extra to something you truly rely on.

What's Missing

When you observe the third row, it is clear that it is most suitable for children and shorter adults; however, three full-sized adults will feel cramped during the drive from Riyadh to Madinah. Legroom is limited, and headroom is tighter than the second row suggests. It is advisable to sit in the third row before deciding if it is suitable for your family.

Rear air conditioning is present across all rows, but airflow into the third row may feel a little weaker than the front. In Dammam in August, younger children in the back will feel that gap. The Active trim's base cabin uses materials that feel ordinary around the lower door panels and center console at this price point.

What's Included

• Ford CoPilot360 is standard on every Explorer variant sold in KSA. This covers automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, lane keeping assist, and pre-collision assist with pedestrian detection. Every buyer gets these from the entry Active trim upward. 
• Seven airbags are fitted across all variants alongside ABS, electronic stability control, hill start assist, tire pressure monitoring, and ISOFIX child seat anchors. This pretty much covers what really matters when protecting your family.
• Higher trims add adaptive cruise control with stop and go function, evasive steering assist, reverse braking assist, and adaptive LED headlamps that move with the steering on dark roads. Coming down the Taif mountain road after dark or on a long night drive toward Madinah, headlamps that follow the road are equipment that earn their keep on a single trip.

Things to Consider

• The Active trim does not include adaptive cruise control. For families doing regular long highway drives with children in the car, this gap is more meaningful than the price difference between Active and Platinum suggests.
• The Ford service network runs through Al Jazirah Vehicles and Naghi Ford, covering Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, Madinah, Taif, and other key centers. Buyers outside the major cities should confirm service location and parts availability before purchasing.
