Genesis EV G 80

• Genesis has given this EV sedan the latest revamp for the 2026 model year, which brings a 95.4 kWh battery, replacing the previous 87.2 kWh unit. This boosts the range to 475 km from 425 km, and the extended wheelbase gives way to room for the bigger battery.
• Dual-motor AWD comes standard: 182 hp at the front and 183 hp at the rear.Combined output: 365 hp and 700 Nm. It has a top speed of 225 km/h and weighs about 2,200+ kg; considering these figures, the G80 turns out to be quite fast.
• Fast charging touches a maximum of 187 kW with a 350 kW DC fast charger. You can go from 10% to 80% in just 25 minutes, which gives you over 300 km of range. If you choose to charge at home with Level 2 AC charging, it takes overnight, about 8–9 hours, which is pretty standard.
• Battery conditioning automatically adjusts to temperature before reaching charging stations. Three drive modes: Eco, Normal, and Sport, plus Snow mode. Electronic suspension with Road Preview uses front cameras to detect potholes and adjusts damping in real time.
• The sedan gets a chauffeur mode, which controls acceleration, braking, and suspension for maximum rear-seat smoothness. The regenerative braking offers multiple levels, from aggressive one-pedal driving to traditional coasting.

Some limitations:

In comparison to the Tesla Model S, which has over 550 km of range, with this sedan you are getting less. However, for regular daily driving exceeding 350+ km, you may need to charge the vehicle more frequently. The boot now drops to 334 litres, a smaller size, and the awkward floor step limits loading. Efficiency drops 20–30% in cold weather, despite pre-conditioning.

• The Electrified G80 places strong emphasis on comfort and refinement over sporty dynamics, something you notice immediately once you drive it. Genesis engineered this electric sedan for smooth, peaceful travel, knowing most owners prefer it that way.
• Like a typical EV, the floor-mounted battery creates stable handling, and body control is well managed with minimal roll. The G80 feels planted and secure for the most part.
• Its key features, such as Remote Smart Parking Assist, which parks remotely via key fob, and the 360-degree monitor, allow parking effortlessly.
• While driving on the highways, you will not take time to notice how the suspension absorbs bad patches or rough areas perfectly. Also the active noise cancellations help the cabin stay quiet. This should make your long road trips relaxing and enjoyable.
• The adaptive suspension with Road Preview handles potholes and speed bumps using a front camera. Make the cabin quite comfortable. 
• Steering is such that you get enough weight and precision without feeling the road. This mostly feels quite comfortable and confident. The electronic stability systems work quite perfectly. 
• Highway Driving Assist combines adaptive cruise control with lane centring to for safety distance. 

Some limitations:

Brake pedal feel lacks progressive feedback, and the regenerative-to-mechanical brake transition feels less natural. Body roll becomes noticeable during aggressive cornering, as comfort takes priority over handling, and the ride can feel firm over sharp bumps despite the adaptive suspension.

• The 2026 model gets rear-seat comfort with a 5.1-inch longer wheelbase, creating extra legroom. Genesis has provided VIP reclining seats with leg rests and memory functions. The rear doors feature the Easy Close system.
• The 27-inch OLED display merges the instrument cluster and infotainment seamlessly.For smartphone connectivity, you get wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard.
• Prime Nappa leather seats feature minimal processing.Front seats get heating, ventilation, and massage. Rear seats get heating and power recline. The stitching quality is exquisite.
• The three-spoke steering wheel replaces the previous two-spoke design with logical, accessible switchgear. The Shift-by-Wire feature uses a transparent rotary dial with jewel finishes and looks excellent. The ambient mood lighting gives the cabin an entirely new feel and a quite exclusive vibe.
• The charging port nicely integrates into the grille, opening and closing electrically. The Digital Key 2 turns your smartphone into a key. With fingerprint authentication, you can access the car without a physical key, and it saves personalised settings. Facial recognition adds another layer of authentication.
• Wireless charging, multiple USB ports, and practical storage complete the package. Exterior design remains understated with a subtle Two-Line Crest Grille.The design features include micro-lens array (MLA) headlights, a three-dimensional bumper without visible exhaust outlets, and a V-shaped chrome rear trim.

Some compromises:

The seating position sits slightly elevated for battery clearance, which is noticeable versus the petrol G80. The massive screen eliminates many physical buttons; this may be great for younger users, but some prefer traditional climate controls.

• Starting with the overall structure, the body is made in high-tensile steel energy-absorbing crumple zones that provide exceptional protection if a collision takes place. Also the battery pack gives the floor rigidity.
• There are about 10 airbags to protect the driver and the passenger, along with side, curtain, and knee positions.
