From Design to Cabin Quality, Does the Hyundai Sonata Feel Truly Premium?

Saudi Arabia: For a car priced between SAR 102,180 and SAR 144,385, the Hyundai Sonata offers a lot for its price tag, especially on the inside. From the moment you open the door, the materials and layout feel more premium than the pricing suggests. Outside, it is hard not to notice. The fastback roofline, the wide integrated front grille, and the distinctive rear light signature give it a visual presence that makes it stand out in any parking lot.

Exterior 

The Sonata’s exterior is not subtle. It is confident without being overdone, a difficult balance that Hyundai has managed well in this generation. The front design features a sharp horizontal lighting signature integrated into the grille area. The side profile shows a long, low body with a sloping roofline that gives it the proportions of a European executive sedan rather than a traditional family car.

Get inside a Premium or Comfort trim, and you get a cockpit that feels genuinely driver-focused.

The cabin feels wide and airy. Rear legroom is generous, and backseat passengers in Saudi families will not complain, which matters when you have two or three kids in the back on a Taif road trip. The boot capacity is 480 liters, which is solid for a sedan of this size.

What's missing 

Honestly, the base trim's 17-inch steel wheels are not that great. The lower two variants skip the HUD and the ventilated seats, two features that any Saudi buyer will miss during summer. Interior materials on the base are decent but clearly a step down from the Comfort and Premium levels. 

The Floating Console

One detail buyers consistently notice during test drives is the floating center console. It looks clean and modern, and the electronic push-button gear selector takes up minimal space. It gives the cabin a tidier feel compared to older Sonata generations, and the storage underneath is practical rather than decorative.

Rear visibility is not perfect. The fastback-style roofline slightly reduces the rear window area. However, Comfort trim and above include a 360-degree surround-view camera, which largely solves the issue in tight parking spaces. In Riyadh’s multi-level malls or Jeddah’s busy street parking, that camera proves genuinely useful.

Final Word

The Sonata's exterior design is one of the strongest in its segment right now. The interior on the Comfort and Premium trims feels genuinely premium.
