Changan CS95

• The 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine produces 233 hp of power and 390 Nm of torque, paired with an 8-speed AISIN automatic transmission that ensures smooth shifts. Power delivery feels adequate through all gears for a vehicle of this size.
• You get to choose between front-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive configurations. The AWD system comes with Changan's NexTrac technology, which promises enhanced traction. It has three drive modes that take care of different conditions.
• The 155 mm of ground clearance and 2,810 mm of wheelbase are sufficient for stable driving. 
• The fuel tank capacity is 74 litres, and given the size of the SUV, you can expect a realistic mileage of around 12.6 km/L, typical for this segment.

Some compromises:

• The engine focuses on flexibility over efficiency, something the turbocharged SUVs in this class are known for. 
• Also, as expected, the FWD base variant limits capability if you directly compare it to AWD competitors. The AWD system is road-focused rather than serious off-road, another deliberate attempt by the brand for a clear focus on city and highway driving. 

• Although it is a large SUV, it is surprisingly manageable when driving on city roads, so it won't pose a significant issue. The driving position, visibility, and navigating crowded roads are all just perfect. Even if you take it for a daily commute, it should serve you well by handling the city’s hustle.  
• Likewise on the highways, the drive is just remarkable. With the suspension, take care of imperfect roads and some rough patches, and keep the cabin composed and quiet. Exceptional sound insulation creates a serene environment. Also the body control is well-managed despite the size and weight.
• The integrated Adaptive Cruise Control system (iACC) provides much-needed single-lane assistance, traffic jam assist, automatic deceleration in corners, and tunnel/ramp pre-deceleration. This makes highway driving a breeze and also never feels tiring, even if you drive for longer hours.

Things to Watch Out For:

• The suspension is tuned for comfort, which may feel a noticeable body roll in corners. This is because the focus is clearly on relaxed cruising.
• The big size of the CS95 makes it challenging if you are in congested areas of the city or have tight parking situations often. The turning radius is reasonable but not compact.
• Engine noise is well-controlled normally but becomes noticeable if you push for a little rapid acceleration. Not much, but the turbo lag is present.
• The FWD base variant can experience traction loss under vigorous acceleration. AWD improves this but adds cost.

• The seats are offered in Nappa leather across all three rows with quilting technology, which is super cool. The front seats have an eight-way power adjustment with a memory function. The driver's seat is offered with a massage function. Also the pre-tensioned force-limiting seat belts are extra safety layers for everyone at all times.
• The leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel with chrome touches and other premium materials and the soft-touch cabin aspect make it a highly desirable place to be in.
• The 12.3-inch touchscreen supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. 
• The panoramic sunroof with 1.14 square metres of glass area makes the cabin exceptionally open, bringing in fresh light. Three-zone automatic AC allows independent temperature settings, and the third-row passengers are offered individual air conditioning vents. 
• A 10-speaker premium audio system with amplifier provides entertainment. A wireless charging pad, multiple USB ports, and 38 storage spaces make daily use practical.
• Seven-passenger seating with a 2+2+3 configuration is huge for families who prefer space. The second-row seats have multi-angle adjustable seatbacks, and the third row is suitable for children or short trips. 
• The standard boot space is 465 litres, which can be expanded to 2,000 litres when the seats are folded down.

Overall, the CS95 has genuine comfort with superior build quality for its price, designed for KSA weather conditions.

• There are 6 airbags supported by advanced braking systems, including Anti-Lock Braking (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), and Brake Assist. Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Traction Control System (TCS), Hill-Start Assist (HHC), and Hill Descent Control (HDC) protect occupants in various conditions.
• Advanced driver assistance Integrated Adaptive Cruise Control (iACC) with traffic jam assist, Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Automatic Emergency Braking with pedestrian recognition, Blind Spot Detection, Lane Departure Warning, and Lane Keep Assist.
• The 540-degree HD transparent chassis provides a video resolution of 1280x960, enabling 3D display functionality and detailed monitoring. Combined with front/rear parking sensors, this raises excellent awareness.
• Additional safety aids include tire pressure monitoring, rear cross-traffic alerts, ISOFIX child seat anchors, and child safety locks.

What to watch out for:

• The CS95 has yet to undergo an independent Euro NCAP or similar test, and so its crashworthiness is not yet available. This may be a concern for safety-focused buyers.
• The comprehensive driver assistance is certainly noteworthy, and most buyers will be impressed with the offering. But the actual real-life performance often depends on the driving conditions and may vary from what you get from a more established brand.
• Service network is another key area that buyers must consider before seriously thinking about any Chinese car, and that is true with the Changan brand as well. It has partnered with Almajdouie and is expanding across KSA but remains limited compared to Toyota, Nissan, or Hyundai. Such limitations could impact service accessibility, time, quality, and availability of parts. And warranty claim processing may experience delays in some regions.
