Changan UNI-V

• The engine is a 1.5L turbo that produces 185 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque. That power feels strong in normal driving. You can speed up quickly to join fast traffic on Ring Road or pass slow cars on the highway to Dammam. It reaches 0-100 km/h in about 8–9 seconds. Not the fastest, but enough to feel lively and enjoyable.
• The gearbox is a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. It changes gears smoothly most of the time. When you drive calmly, it feels relaxed. Switch to sport mode, and it becomes quicker and holds gears longer for more fun.
• Fuel use is good for a car this quick. You can get up to 18 km per litre on open roads if you drive steadily. The tank holds 51 litres, so one refill can take you far. That matters in Saudi Arabia, where distances are big and petrol stations can be spread out on long drives.
• The car is 4,680 mm long, 1,838 mm wide, and only 1,430 mm tall. The long wheelbase of around 2,800 mm helps it feel stable at high speeds. It is easy to park in crowded mall lots or narrow streets. Ground clearance is fine for city roads, speed bumps, and even light gravel paths near picnic spots.
• It is front-wheel drive only. The suspension is set up for sporty driving. Corners feel sharp, and the car grips the road well. The electric spoiler pops up automatically at higher speeds to push the car down for better stability.

Some shortcomings 

• You may feel a small turbo lag when you press the pedal from standstill. 
• Power comes a moment later. The ride is firm, so you feel rough roads more than in softer family cars. 
• No all-wheel drive means it is not for deep sand or serious off-road.

Overall, the UNI-V gives strong performance for everyday Saudi driving. It is quick, efficient, and handles nicely without being too extreme.

• The suspension is firm but not harsh. On good roads, it absorbs bumps well and keeps the car level and when you are on the highway, cruising feels relaxed and stable even at 140 km/h. The cabin stays reasonably quiet, road noise is low, and wind noise is minimal.
• Steering is quick and direct. You turn the wheel a little, and the car responds right away. That helps in tight traffic or quick lane changes. Sport mode makes steering heavier for a better feel.
• Level 2 driving aids work well in real traffic. Adaptive cruise keeps a safe distance from the car ahead and slows or speeds automatically. Lane keep gently steers back if you drift. These features reduce tiredness on long drives to Jeddah or Taif.
• The 360-degree camera gives clear views all around. It shows distance numbers to walls or other cars, which is super helpful in crowded parking. Auto parking can find a spot and steer itself in.
• The electric spoiler adds downforce at speed. You feel the car stick better on fast curves.

Some limitations. 

• Firm suspension lets bigger potholes through to the seats. 
• The engine makes a sporty noise when you accelerate hard, not bad, but noticeable. A low roof means getting in and out needs care for taller people.
• Visibility is good forward, but the thick rear pillars hide some blind spots. Cameras help fix that.

Overall, ride and handling make the UNI-V stand out. It drives better than many cars that are twice the price.

• The driver gets a full digital display plus a small extra screen for quick info. Everything stays clear even in bright sun.
• Seats have sporty orange stitching and good side support. Front seats adjust with electric buttons. Some versions have heating and cooling, ideal for Saudi summers and winters. The panoramic sunroof is large and lets in light while blocking most heat.
• AC cools the cabin quickly. Rear vents keep back passengers happy on family trips. Sony speakers play music clearly. A wireless phone charger sits in the front console. Ambient lights change colour based on mood.
• The car seats five people on paper. The front and driver areas feel spacious. The rear is okay for average adults, but the sloping roof cuts headroom. Tall passengers might feel tight. The middle rear seat works best for kids or short trips.
• Boot space is around 400 litres. That fits several grocery bags or weekend luggage. Rear seats fold down if you need to carry longer items like camping gear.
• Storage spots are smart: big door pockets, centre consoles, and cupholders everywhere. Keyless entry and push-start make life easy.
• Build quality feels solid. Nothing rattles on bumpy roads. For the price, the interior gives a premium feel that surprises most buyers.

• The body uses high-strength steel in key areas. It should absorb crash energy well. Six airbags cover the front, sides, and full-length curtains.
• Basic systems include ABS brakes that stop straight in panic, stability control to prevent skids, traction control, hill hold for slopes, and auto hold in traffic.

Anything missing?

• What's less clear is no big independent crash test rating yet from Euro NCAP or similar. The gear suggests good protection, but test yourself for peace of mind.
• The service network through Almajdouie is growing across KSA. Centres are in main cities, but check for one near your home. Parts are becoming easier to get. The long 6-year warranty gives extra confidence.
